Doug Peot’s Reference Audiophile Writer Biography

Doug Peot's reference AV system has gone between two channel and 5.1 over the years - depending on his mood and how he's consuming media.

Doug Peot has been an audiophile since his teenage years after purchasing a pair of Infinity bookshelf speakers to pair with a Technics receiver his Dad won in sales contest in 1988. Doug immediately compared the family Pioneer SX-450 receiver to the new Technics receiver and realized he would be upgrading the Technics in short order. This started a cycle of upgrading, and a continuous churn of equipment that continues today. (Sound familiar?)

Doug’s taste in music ranges from Classical to Blues to Classic Rock to Metal and even Yacht Rock. One of his daughters is studying to be a classical pianist so his system is designed to be capable of subtle nuance and huge dynamics that are found on the best piano recordings.

Doug has owned audiophile loudspeakers as well as electronics from many of the more notable audiophile manufacturers over the years.  Including but not limited to: ADCOM, Butler Audio, Carver, Classe, Dynaudio, Energy, Golden Ear, Klipsch, Harman/Kardon, Infinity, JBL, JL Audio, Marantz, McIntosh, NHT, OHM, Paradigm, Parasound, Pass Labs, Polk Audio, Revel, Salk Sound, Sony ES, SVS, and Yamaha.
