Frank Picarello's Reference Audiophile System and Writer's Bio

Frank Picarello has been an avid music lover and audiophile since he was a teenager. It started with a trip with his dad to the local TV/ Stereo store to arrange for a TV repair. Frank heard some music coming from one of the rooms where he heard a pair of Bozak speakers, McIntosh tube gear, and a Linn Sondek turntable making some amazing music. The way that experience impacted him and made him has never faded.

For Frank, being an audiophile has always been a great way to get a closer connection to music. Frank spent a lot of time in NY stereo stores and over the years learned to appreciate different music and various sound systems approaches. Frank was such a nuisance being a regular at Franklin Lakes Stereo in NJ, the store manager ended up hiring him which gave Frank the opportunity to get his hands and ears on some amazing equipment while he helped many customers experience the joy of this amazing hobby.

Frank has an electrical engineering degree with an emphasis on analog audio design. This along with his design curiosity has allowed him over the years to repair and modify countless numbers of amps and preamps.

Frank’s passion, curiosity, and interest in the Audiophile Industry haven’t diminished. Over the last several years Frank has been focused on digital music (local and streaming), streamers, audio switches, and DACs. Frank admires the recent technological improvements, the lower price of entry for digital equipment, and how new audiophiles can enter the hobby experiencing legitimate high-end sound for a reasonable investment. Frank is bullish about the future of the industry and loves seeing young audiophiles enjoying this hobby.
